Should I Wear Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Spray In Winter?

During the summer months, it’s easy to see why people should use sensitive skin sunscreen spray. That’s because the sun is often nestled amongst the deep azure blue of the sky, and you can literally feel its warmth on your skin. Most people will at least consider wearing sunscreen on a day like this.

So, when the weather turns colder, and the sky becomes blanketed in gray clouds, it’s natural to assume that the need to wear sun protection is longer there. The problem is, this is an assumption that can leave you with sun damage that you simply didn’t expect.

Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Spray Is Required In Winter

Contrary to what many people think, sunscreen is necessary during the winter months, or you will eventually end up with sun spots, skin ageing and, in worst cases, skin cancer.

So, what percentage of American adults do you think wear the stuff during the cold parts of the year? Worryingly, only around 10% of people in the US wear sunscreen during this period, meaning each and every one of them risks the problems we just mentioned.

UVA vs UVB Rays From The Sun

The reason why this is the case has a scientific basis, and it goes something like this – sun rays can be split up into UVA and UVB varieties. UVB rays are those you feel on a hot sunny day and leave you reaching for the sensitive skin sunscreen spray. This is the type of ray that most people are aware of i.e. they know they might burn if they head out into it without sunscreen on.

UVA rays, on the other hand, are much sneakier in that they get you during the winter and while you’re sitting by a window indoors. These rays permeate clouds, and therein lies the problem. Even on a day when you never even get a hint of seeing the sun, you can be sunburnt. It hardly seems fair, but that is the case, meaning that sunscreen is needed every day of the year.

The matter is further complicated by the fact that our skin barrier is more susceptible to changes in the environment, so it’s already having to work harder to stay balanced when it’s colder. As such, you absolutely need to support your skin with good-quality sunscreen.

Don’t Forget Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Spray – Even At Christmas Time!

Don’t leave yourself vulnerable to sun damage during the winter. We wish that more people knew this fact, but they don’t. So, we’ll keep on banging the drum to let people know that sunscreen is an all-year-round thing – even if it only feels appropriate during the Summer.

If you were to compare the complexion of someone who does wear it every day to that of someone who doesn’t, you would see a huge difference. One will be balanced and young-looking, whereas the other is likely to look freckled, tired and weathered.

The sun’s rays are like water – they get everywhere and impact your skin when you’re not even aware of the fact. The only way to beat it is to wear protection every time you go out.

As far as nuggets of skin wisdom go, this is one of the biggest!
